Royal Southern were holding a family charity cup today (postponed from yesterday due to the wind forecast). Same household crew. No more than 6 per boat. gate start, self timed. No social events before or after. Paean is not quite back in commission, otherwise I'd have joined in or at least gone out to anchor to create a start line.
Happened to be on the beach at Lee on Solent yesterday morning and looking out across the Solent it was cheering to see so many out there, tinged with pangs of jealousy. Lots of sailing dinghies and RIBs off Bosham too.
SORC (Solo Offshore Racing Club) was also out on Sunday, with a start and finish off Cowes.
It's the ultimate in socially-distanced racing, though there was an additional class for double-handed teams living in the same household.
Royal Southern are holding another race in 2 weeks time. Same rules (social distancing / same householder, etc). I am sure that non-members would be welcome.
