I will be removing the existing waterline bootstripe on my 1975 Rival 32, so that I can paint the hull. I am convinced that the existing waterline boot stripe is not where it should be. Is it safe to assume that the waterline shown on the brochures is the correct placement and what is the best way to put the new stripe on and should I used paint or a vinyl tape? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just a thought, but I have a similar vintage Warrior and to get the water line level I have to weight the forward lockers as much as I can. It occurred to me that it was a 60's design, expecting a full suite of hank on sails in the forepeak, so these days it is too light forward.

I plan to trim the boat then mark off the water on a calm day to give me the waterline I want.

My next door neighbour has a R32, and has recently boot-topped and antifouled, so I will ask what he has done re his waterline
