R10XX Raster Scan Radar Problem

I have a R10XX Raster Scan Radar system which is connected to a Raytheon Raychart 600XX electronic charting system. It is approximately 6 years old.

The 10XX Raydome on the mast has been seriously damaged by water getting in and I am told it is probably not cost effective to be reliably repaired. A new generation replacement will not interface with the fitted electronic charting system and so the whole system will have to be replaced.

Does anyone have a second hand 10XX Raydome for sale? Possibly someone updating their system?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Tim

It sounds as if it's not cost effective to replace the whole system either, and I am sure that if it can be repaired then it's the best way to go if the system works.

You don't mention what the repair cost would be, but certainly cheaper than a whole system, and they do seem to be getting cheaper over time, so the longer you wait!!!

I got a shock last year when I needed a mic front end. The Maggy was ok ..afordable price but the front end made by JRC, who had fallen out with Raythenon,....was a rip off. Both parts available in the States at a better price than I paid from a Belgium Repair Guy. Who incidently gave a good svc and beat UK prices. Your fault is more likely to be on the PCB though. At six yrs old, not much chance of S/h parts, Though you might Fax all the Shoreside repair facilities for scrap sets. Sounds like the repair man doesnt want to get involved as it might well be a case of Keep throwing parts at it until it works. The dealers would have to charge for all the parts used. Might be worth getting a quote from Raythenon's svc center as they have all the parts on stock and will only charge for the faulty item. Try speaking to Simon Claxton in the workshop at Raytheon on 023 9269 3611. He gave me some technical advice on my set and knows his onions.
