Quotations for boat repairs

Hi all,
I have had a bump. I have had two quotes as required by the insurance. The quotes are about E800 different. The dearer quote for work done is a lot more detailed where as the lesser quote is very vague.
Will the under writers go for the lesser quote because of cost?

Maybe best to get a third quote and see who is the odd one. More than likely insurers will go for the cheapest but, if you are capable of doing the repairs yourself, they may settle by payment to yourself in lieu of repairs.

If the difference in the quotes is E800 it's pretty a substantial repair so maybe it would be worth trying to get another quote. Stating the obvious but I would also if at all possible try to talk to the potential repairers just to sound them out, see examples of their work, talk to people who they've done work for, etc. difficult though that might be...
