Quiz question - what did the English Channel used to be called?

A link from Wikepedia shows the map below, with what is now the North Sea called the Oceanus Germanicus......... which might be what you're after.

Right up until the early 20th Century (poss. WWI but not 100% certain on that) what we now call the North Sea was called the German Ocean (or Sea) on maps and charts.
