Twas the day the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports reviewed his fleet so the usual mixed collection of assorted boats circled around Dover outer harbour for him. I still don't know if I've thereby pledged to defend the Channel against all comers. Beforehand, we anchored in the harbour and were under the flightpath of the Red Arrows - adds another dimension; only 5 of us anchored and fewer in the procession. Could be a worthwhile date next year for anyone cruising up channel
