This question seems to have been asked before, but I can't seem to see a decent list, so trying again....

Where can I moor up / anchor somewhere sheltered, pop in in a dinghy, get a pint / have a beach BBQ ?

I'm in Watchet, so things around this end preferred. I have a young son that I'd like to take along to places like this, and / or mates on a more booze weekend / fishing time.

I know of

Watchet.....
Minehead (pub, moorings)
Porlock weir (pub, anchor)
Lyn mouth (moorings at high tide)
Watermouth ?
Combe Martin?
Martinhoe?
Ilfracome (full facilities)
Mortenhoe?
Woolacombe?

You get the idea. Small places, that I might drop anchor in my little 24 footer, paddle in to shore, and not see my boat sink in tooooo much mud. Or smashed on rocks....

Thanks

Watermouth is a magic place. Best to visit by car before to suss out the entrance and meet the friendly club.

If you can get round to Barnstaple, there is intriguing sailing up and down the two main rivers, Taw and Torridge. Instow, Barnstaple well worth visits on foot.

To the East, a sail past Hinkley Point is fun, before turning R into the River Parret, where some tricky sailing will take you to Combwich.

A big plus for Watermouth Cove.

The Taw/Torridge rivers are fun getting across the the bar can be a challenge at times.

If you are keen on islands there is always Lundy.

Don't forget Clovelly. Even better if you can dry out against the wall. As is Appledore. If not both have buoys you can use, Clovelly's is coast guard and Appledore's is RNLI. Small contribution is expected. I love to sit in the mud at places like Thornbury, Uphill, St Pierre, ect. Buryport good, as is Mumbles.

And in the opposite camp, where can I get pontoon / harbour side diesel? The biggies, like Cardiff and Swansea will obviously have fuel, but I can't see a list anywhere, even Reeds almanac is limited.

Ilfracome
Cardiff
Swansea
Watchet
.?

I've only got a 80 to 150nm range, so here to burry and back is 120+ nm without tides....
