Like the look of these. Are they manageable solo? I like to go fishing alone sometimes, just wondering if its easy enough to maneuver in a sheltered marina if on my own... Eg. Visibility from cockpit.

I can't see it being a problem, I'm pretty comfortable taking my Merry Fisher 805 out single handed which similar style but a little larger. Just sort your bow lines out, before approaching berth, so they run aft and you can step off onto the pontoon holding stern and bow lines.

The QS 640 weekender is not a current model, this having been superseded by the Activ675. If you have found a tidy 640, BUY IT NOW. Currently we (Simpson Marine. co. uk) do not have any stock of the weekender or activ models, but do have new or s/h pilot house versions for sale . Should you require anything Q/S related, contact me.

They're good little boats, not owned one myself but been on a few of the weekender and regular versions and they're steady and robust for the money. The weekender will suffer more from windage than the QS640 so that might make it more tricky manouvering single handed, plus perhaps more tricky to get in and out of the cabin. Plus, less deck space if fishing is your thing. Everything is a compromise though.

Smashing boat, age not a problem if you buy a nice one, keep looking at the stock at Simpson marine, I had a mint QS 580 from them, just a bit smaller than the 640 but a very capable boat, I’ve just moved upto a QS 700 weekender, again a nice boat & it’s my 4th Quicksiver, well pleased with each one……but don’t like the new shape at all.

Took the plunge and bought a 640 weekend. Finding little things that need doing but nothing major so far. Launching in a couple of weeks all being well. Thanks for the advice to date, bow lines advice especially noted. The wipers are going to need replacing but not urgent. I am assuming you have to remove the peek that runs around above the windscreen to get access? Looks like 4 screws but would need to reseal again afterwards? Can't see any other way so if anyone who knows the model can confirm that would be good, before I go and do something I should'nt! Quite a bit different from what i am used to, but looking forward to it.

Here are two people who I've used & cant fault either; Stuart Monk at Arvour marine parts, he supplies both Arvour & Quicksilver parts as well as servicing tele 07786 063770, he will-can advise on the wiper issue which is easy enough & anything else. Then you have Simpson marine in Newhaven, Christian is the man there, although its a family firm, they are all O.K. & helpful. Hope you enjoy the 640 they are good boats.

There’s a very good and active Facebook group for all matters called ‘Quicksilver boat owners UK’. This forum and that one will cater for pretty much anything. We love our QS - hope you really enjoy yours.

Hi bowler & thanks for the comment, I am already on fb QBO page, thought after owning 4 QS boats already it may be a good idea, I really am enjoying my 700 weekender, especially with the extra comfort it gives…!
