Had a proper fight with my QS 855 Weekend canvass covers today. First time trying to fit them and I may be doing something wrong. I secured the top sun awning around the chrome frame first and then tried to secure the side panels. I zipped the top edge into the sun awning OK, but I’m jiggered if I could get them to reach down to the plastic studs in the hull. There is no ‘give’ in the canvass as there are no elastic bungees I have experienced on other boats. Instead I have reinforced ‘holes’ in the bottom of the canvass that you secure over the the studs as you would secure a button in a button hole. Is this right? Is there a technique I am missing? I can’t see how the canvass has shrunk as most of the side panel material is transparent plastic. Thanks for any help!

Thanks Bouba. It’s not the poppers that are the problem. The bottom of the canvass has holes that fit over the plastic studs - just like button holes in a shirt. I think I’m going to buy some bungee elastic to make them reach and hope the warm weather stretches things back into shape.

My first boat had a canvas. I never had one since. Wrestling the cover on in 40 degree African heat was enough to put me off for life???
