Which end of the Laser / ILCA kicker needs the fast release?
If it is the boom end, surely need to.be very careful not to have sharp edges to avoid cutting hands /head or catching hair / clothing when tacking or gybing.
If the mast end, any sharp bits likely to tangle with cunningham?

Good thinking. It's the mast end, and the chosen solution won't cause those problems.
