Quick one on thread sizes...

On my Flying Fifteen there is a "brass block" at the top of the rudderstock where the tiller hood attaches. It's similar, but not identical to this...

On the above pic, the bolt on the right squeezes the whole block onto the shaft to stop any wobble through the tiller. Unfortunately, I'm missing my bolt. I tried an M7 tap in the hole, and although it's close, the thread pitch on the block looks coarser than my M7 tap.

I'm guessing it's an imperial size close to M7. As a metric child of the '70s, can anyone advise what it's likely to be?
