My fridge drove me nuts. Even with a fat cable it always decided to cycle on and off due to "low voltage". So I got a cheap Notebook Car power supply which delivers 14-20 V out of a 12V socket. Set it to 14V and hooked it in right before the fridge ----- The ice cubes are comin' /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Sounds like dirty/corroded cut in solenoid resistance causing a drop in voltage, could also be just a loose connection inside or in the feed supply.

If the ice cubes begin to slow down you know where to look.

Naw. Cable run is fine. It just is too sensitive and cuts out. The notebook powersupply fixed it permanently. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I use a notebook power suply to run a 15v notebook from the boat's 12v supply. It works well but the power supply generates a lot of heat. This is acceptable for intermittant use but I would be concerned if this was used continuously.

You may want to check how much current is being drawn from your 12v supply to run your fridge this way as fridges are notorious for flattening batteries even when connected normally.

That was my initial concern as well. But the powersupply gets barely luke warm after days of continuous operation.
