Hi Ian
I was on my new boat in the West Country on Easter Monday.
The Commodore of our Club has my old boat 'DACARAK' for sale.
In a club still dominated by Seamaster and Freeman many members are keen to show an interest for a true 32knot sea trial.
You are correct she was out around Reeds Island, if she cut you up
' it wasn't me'
Our party passed a crowd of boats which was lead by a Corniche, now I have seen this corniche a few times on the humber and it goes like stink !!!!
Never seen one that quick before !!
Think it went on to Goole.
I met a guy who claimed to have sold it from new in 1988.
I was told
It was prepared for the East Coast Boat show( Ive never herd of that)
A boat magazine was going to sea trial it with 290 duo props and aqad 41 (200hp)
The engines were built for the job with race prep. and ballanced, fitted with over pitch props.
Sounded Bull **** to me but it did go well
Top end 32knots (fully loaded)
I would cruise at 26 knots when very calm, one year I went to Dover with the tide all the way from Grimsby, we had up to 28knts on the GPS at cruise revs 3400 . 7.5 hours and I had stopped for fuel.
I went from Grimsby to Chichester in a day and engines never missed a beat in 6 years.
Not bad for an old boat !
yep thats the boat, it must have been you last year, we left hull marina just after you and passed you just before the humber bridge, I clocked you at about 33 knots
I remember you seeing us behind you and yes a did see you press them throttles down.
Great performance tho, I hope the new one gives you as much pleasure.
Now this may not have been you but did we see you in shotley marina last year ?
I think the last time we went to Shotley was 2003, great to pick up a bouy at Pin Mills and go to the Pub for a local Crab, can't remember name of Pub but at high water you can almost tie your tender to the front door !
I have seen cars a wash in the car park.
Watch out for drift nets on this area of the east coast Look like little solid black flags 5-10 nm offshore.
