I'm fitting a new electric bilge pump (whale supersub) in addition to my manual one.
I've got some questions that i would like help with.
1. Use a plastic / nylon skin fitting, or bronze? It is above the waterline so the skinflint in me is thinking nylon / plastic.
2. What to seal the skin fitting with? Sikaflex or silicon? I am favouring the former.
3. What to seal the mating threaded surfaces with between skin fittin, valve, and hose adaptor? Am thinking ptfe tape or sikaflex? Am favouring former as it is cleaner.
4. Whether to fit a valve? I think I should even though it is above the waterline.
5. Should i shortcut and just Y it into existing manual bilge pump hose with a non return valve?
6. The rather poor pump instructions show a loop and what may be an anti siphon valve in the hose run. I am thinking that as the skin fitting is above the waterline, and if i do a, loop high enough, then i can do without the anti syphon. The pump has a non return valve on the outlet. Thoughts?
All help and comments gratefully received.
Thanks. CR.
