I have a Fairline sprint with a Volvo AQ205 petrol V6.

Before I got the boat it had been running on fully synthetic oil, and I have kept that for last three years. I am considering changing the oil to a synthetic mix at its next service late this month and have had differing views on this.

Any advice on this please!!!!!!!

So much trollocks talked about oil on internet forums, your Volvo was probably never designed to use synthetic oil anyway not that it will do any harm, but mixing a
semi-synthetic is no problem just buy the same spec.

Agreed Chris ref trollocks talked about and that the Volvo in question don't need the 'posh' stuff
Bob down ter yer local motor factor Kittycarter and purchase of a 5 litre drum of summatt like 15/40 semi synthetic ( or whatever the spec is) fer nupppence compared to 'Vovo Oil!:encouragement:

Old engine design old type mineral oil will do the job nicely
I actually run mine on 15/40 truck diesel engine oil as I get it at a good price!

I had a 200mph Suzuki Hayabusa once, and was surprised to see it was supposed to run on Mineral oil.

Nowt wrong with a good oil, but best stick to the makers numbers...

Volvo sent us dealers a service bulletin 2 yrs ago approving diesel mineral oil for use in petrol engines, seeing as all new VP petrol engines are based on GM blocks same as Mercruiser, guess what goes in my Magnum 350, VP diesel oil, runs just fine.
