I'm looking at a Delta 25. Nice classic'ish looking boat (I can't find a Triana and don't want a Fairey) with a V8 petrol engine. The boat itself is in good condition but the engine needs looking at, not a prob for me.

What are they like byron. I've only ever seen the bigger ones up for sale. Its a deep V hull with trim tabs fitted. Any good in a seaway or give it a wide berth. Lovely looking boat tho!

Barry,

I believe there's a Triana Tropicana for sale in Hythe Marina (Southampton). It has, however, had it's petrol engines removed and replaced by two (brand new) Volvo diesels/duo-props (2x150HP I think). The whole boat has been seriously renovated and is very smart (the engine transplant bit was covered in detail by one of the magazines).

I remember it belonged to a guy called Mark, the Marina office would give you contact details if interested.

Don't know whether this type of surgery renders it undesirable to others however.

The Delta 25s originally built by David Still Marine of Emsworth were a cracking boat. A mate had one of the first ever built and it used to go like a Bat out of Hell. Super soft ride and very sea-safe. They didn't build that many.

Umm yep seen that one. Its rather.....er.....over priced to say the least. Did go and have a quick look see. The engines only just fit, you can get a fag paper between them, just! Bit too much wieght in the stern as well, the diesels, being roughly half the wieght of the original petrols, again. As you say though, lovely boat, but a bit out of my price range.

I saw the Delta and liked the lines of it. Nice classic looking boat and for a 25 footer rather roomy. Just wanted to know if they were any good in a seaway. I think I've been spoiled by the Tremlett in that respect. I was hoping to keep the Tremlett as the old girl and me have been through quiet a bit. Not seen too many Deltas of this size up for sale and the price looks cheap as chips as they say.

The original Deltas were fitted with a single Mercruiser. I would put them on a par with a Tremlett for sea keeping. Really they were an out and out race bred cruiser but came along too late to make their mark as the Cruiser Racer era was just about over.

Yeah looks as though it would. Rather pleasing lines and not of the jelly mould ilk!
I just neede a second opinion, Ill get a surveyor tho when I've broached the subject with the wife...read Boss there. Seems to be original, not painted or messed about with. Is the layup heavy as most boats of the period.

Don't know the name of it. Its down at medawy bridge marina. They've got it up for just under the 10K mark. Talking to the guys there yesterday they seem to think the owner will take offers. I would like to keep the Tremlett, but it all depends on finances. I've been told...nay ordered... we need a bigger boat as the kids a growing. Though little wifey looks at all the gloss and shine at the boatshows, none of them really do mich for me. Saw the delta and the tremlett and got that "feeling" in me gut!

Used to have a David Still 17' daycruiser, stripped out for skiing, down in Dubai, with a 235 outboard, great boat, very strong (we abused it unmercilessly) and very good at sea.

Didn't think it'll be your sort of thing. Does look a damn fine boat though. A lot prettier than a lot of the modern boats. It'll probably look a lot nicer without the canopy up. Apparently there's a radar arch under there somewhere!

What do you mean not my kind of thing? Have you any idea of my boating experience or what I own or have owned, raced, ever heard of stepped hull hydroplanes or even what I ski behind? NO? I didn't think so.

Dont get upset Barry, Colins on a bit of skeletal steelwork in the middle of the North Sea in the middle of a raging gale.....you wouldnt expect a normal response would you?
