Hi folks and thanks for previous help. Now I'm looking for an assist on winch handles.
I needed to rewinch my boat as one of the originals was missing. I picked up a couple of older Lewmar 43 winches on fleabay, good nick, chrome a little worn but usable, mechanically very good indeed BUT the star drive is not the same as the star on a modern Lewmar 43, it's smaller-- only about 11/16 across flats. A square drive from one of my other winches will turn it but it gives me the heeby-jeebies thinking what might happen if a square drive deformed a bit and then jammed the handle in the winch in a blow.
There must be handles of this smaller drive star size out there-- can one of you kind people give me a clue where one might be? Even where to start looking? Or a general winch handle 101, even?
I apologise if this is an idiot's question, I'm used to square drives and this is a little spooky....
