Dear forumites,

I need your assistance about an issue with Croatian vinjeta.

My boat stays at Montenegro. Next week I will be entering to Croatia for a trip of 6 days and return to Montenegro. As I am planning to make such short trips to Croatia regularly, I plan to buy a yearly Croatian vinjeta and use the same vinjeta each time I go in. But I don't know if the vinjeta expires each time I leave Croatia and I need to buy a new one each time I enter there. Does anyone know about this?

The vignette and the sojourn tax are both valid until the expiry date on the certificate. The vignette is an annual charge and will be valid until the end of the year in which you obtain it. The sojourn tax can be bought for 8/15/30/90/365 days so an annual one might not be the cheapest if you make a few short visits but it does give you more to do on each visit compared to the annual one. However, it's not cheap unless the tariff changes for the better in 2019.

I do wonder about this whole Croatia thing and if its all worthwhile?

There seems to be all sorts of messing about with an overwhelming regulatory machine that seems to do its level best to jerk you around.

There have been many threads about cruising in the country and the suffocating paperwork. My two short visits delivering boats have been plagued with paper trails. Im currently waiting for an export licence to take another one away as the season marches on.

A good friend is skipper of a large charter yacht. To get a commercial licence for the start of this season, the boat, one year old, required an expensive additional survey.

Lovely scenery, perhaps, but is it worth being overrun by Germans and beaurocracy? Not surprisingly, the big yachts are relocating to Macedonia for a lot less hassle.

Well I hope to be passing through soon, I may end up viewing the place in a different way. But I doubt it! :)
