Hello everyone,

A Volvo Penta 2001, from 1990, experienced a diesel engine runaway. Fortunately, we managed to shut it down, and the engine has been running normally since then, accumulating a total of 15–20 hours of operation.

Here's what has been done since the runaway incident:
  • The engine oil, which had diesel contamination, has been changed.
  • The new engine oil has remained clean since the change.
  • The exhaust elbow and associated pipes were cleaned after the runaway; they were not blocked.
  • The air intake filter and silencer have also been cleaned.
A couple of questions:
  • Does the Volvo Penta 2001 have a breather pipe?
  • Does anyone have an exploded view diagram or picture that shows this part?
Your insights and any diagrams/pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

No not a pipe but it has an internal breather passage.
