Phil,
that is most excellent news.

Are you going for another 30% increase this year? You will need a Power Boat rather than Trot Boat! Well done...

The situation is greatly improved, because the ATL is still anchored in position, but the walkway has had a section removed, denying access from the village. You will be a lot safer ;)

Sounds like we will never get ashore at Queenborough then, been planning to for a couple of years but the time has never been right.

Makes the investment (new engine) in the trot boat a bit pointless if there is no access to shore!

Hopefully the ATL issue will be resolved by next season. Perhaps some of that new moorings grant could be spent on it.

If Queenie was in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Holland there would be pontoons and facilities provided as a matter of course, and the village would benefit vastly. Seafaring nation my anus.

Hear Hear, the Dutchies would probably make it free as well like the Versemeer and others. Attract lots of trade and money comes in.

For reasons not made clear to non-locals like me, the ATL is owned by the Yacht Club not the Trust, despite the club having no funds to maintain it. I am sure there are lots of local sensitivities involved but from outside it seems heads need knocking together until everyone agrees to pull together - otherwise Queenborough might just sink together.

Can honestly say I've never understood the draw of Queenborough. When heading up to London or stopping overnight in the area, Stangate Creek is quiet, pretty and free. OK there's no shore access but that's not a given at Queenborough and there's a reason we go to Oostende each year to stock up on beer... so we don't always need to go ashore for a bevy or two.

With over 1500 visitor nights recorded last season and approx 5000 visitors using the free trot boat service would indicate that Queenborough is popular. But if you prefer to swing around a buoy in stangate creek that is entirely your choice sir.
I think most people would agree that Queenborough is a nice place to visit and strategically positioned for onward transit to London the East Coast and the Continent.

I would love to see Queenborough developed. We keep our boat at Chatham which has great facilities, but it is a couple of hours of the same old river each way before we can get to anything like open water sailing. If there were decent marina style facilities available at Queenborough at a reasonable price, I could easily see us moving there permanently.

We will watch with interest. Do you anticipate the full range of facilities including shore power, water and fuel?

Sorry can't give a definite answer....It's still early days at the moment and nothing has been finalised
