Quaysider deck boots

Yes, but sebego ladies are even better, I love my Quayside boots, but I wish they would wear out so I have an excuse to get the sebagos,

I crossed the channel on the day half of England flooded this summer. After 18 hours singlehanded in the hissing rain, watchching the water spout out of my laceholes, I promised myself a pair of decent boots. Being too mean to consider anything over £100 I bought the Quaysiders. They are well made, robust boots but the fabric snug tops make then rather high; I fold this over most of the time and this works ok. I was not very keen on the grip but this has improved to some extent by using them on rough surfaces ashore. As for the foul weather performance they have not had a severe test yet, but they have been comfortable and nice and warm - very useful this summer.

I've always been dissapointed with Quayside shoes, however by Quayside boots!!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif They are great!! I have done a couple of summer long distance sails in them, warm enough at night but not to hot, in the winter with some heavier socks they are just great!

Waterproof? You bet!

I paid about £69 for them 3 or 4 years ago and they still have loads of life left in them, OK not the 'street cred' of Dubarry but they were half the price.

Dont pay twice the price, because you can get ladies Sebago ones for £102 and for that you can expect them to last a minimum of five years for heavy use, and I mean all winter sailing every year, but at least ten years for the average sailor

Re: Quayside deck boots

I have a pair of them, great , after 3 years total winter wear, they finally leak a little on my left foot , if in water [puddle type over ankle deep ] for more than 5 mins.
They are fantastic, and I was talking to one of there sales men as the SBS and he said they are bringing out the shorter type again soon. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Quayside deck boots

I've had mine for 4 or 5 years, and they're great. No leaks and very comfortable indeed. They must breathe properly, as my feet never get hot in them. I paid a similar £69ish.

I had no choice - my feet wouldn't fit into Dubarry's of anything like the correct foot length, and the Quayside's are much more generously cut in terms of width/circumference (possibly a disadvantage for your SWMBO?).

My only issue has been a lack of grip on wet varnished surfaces. (Wet with rain, with not fresh varnish!)

A big plus for the financially challenged social climber, most people except Dubarry wearers will think they're Dubarrys.

Years ago I got some wax type treatment from the boat show, the guys were there domonstrating it, cleaning deck shoes for passers by, then selling the wax in plastic tubs, you may remember it. Anyway, thats what I use and its good. Not sure what I will use when it runs out.

Think I came across the same people at a Show Jumping show at Olympia. Good stuff and does the business.
