Saw this last night, average film, no plot to speak of, no Bondy one-liners, but as you'd expect some fairly nifty special effects.

Near the start, a Bolivian General baddy gets on a smallish Sunseeker open boat, not exactly sure which one, but maybe a Superhawk about 40 feet, and the boat whizzes off. The shot then changes to them on the boat and there's a flybridge on it ffs! It has the sharks teeth effect on the windows, so I think its a 34 or 37m! How's that for continuity? I guess I was the only mobo anorak there, and certainly the people I was with didn't notice.

There were also some odd non boaty bits, including 007 in an Aston Martin being caught easily by plod in an Alfa 156, and a hotel which spontaneously explodes when it catches fire??

There was also a raffle with a set of Sunseeker wet weather gear in pale blue. The guy who bought them is going to look so cool walking round the Bull Ring in them /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Never mind the boats - does Bond get his kit off? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Saw it tonight. The Superhawk 43 was being used as a tender to the 37 Yacht, it was just shuttling the general out to it. Hence both boats being seen in that scene.

Agree the Alfas did keep up a tad too easily, although there was a lot of traffic etc to keep the Aston being slowed.

The exploding hotel was due to the domestic electrics being powered by some sort of power cell thing (not much mains electric in the middle of the desert I guess). They referenced it when the general was asking about the strange noises when first in the hotel. It was those that were exploding. A little far fetched I agree, but that was the explanation.

Good film, bit hard to follow in places (did Mr. White get away or did he get shot?), tremendous action scenes, but not very "Bond"ish. Change the names and it could have been any action film.

Worth a watch, not a classic.

Superhawk 43 less the radar arch?? Film crap 002 and a bit. Not worth going to the cinema wait for the DVD from the hire shop. Fell asleep twice and droped mi Malteezers which bounced all the way down the isle in the cinema. more en /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.giftertaining than the film.

Yep the hotel exploded when the fire reached the hyrdogen power cells as far as I could tell - I thought it was a great boat chase scene bu should have lasted longer or there should have been another one at least!

Which cinema did you go to? I saw it at the AMC on Broadway Plaza by Broad Street, nice cinema actually!

Indeed, less the radar arch and also did you notice that it was flat teak decked from the helm and nav seats back, like a pick up truck?

I originally thought that it was going to end up in some stunt that this configuration leant itself to, but it was never used in the actual chase so my guess is that after its appearance as the Yacht 37 tender they then used it as a filming platform for the chase scenes, hence the completely open flat back and no arch (loads of room and big platform for people and gear and no obstructions for filming).

I went last night and completely enjoyed for what it was, an entertaining film.
Sunseekers always are the baddies boat of choice. Must be shome mishtake hic!
Fortunately the sound was working correctly which helps. You might think this a normal situation but twice I have been to cinemas showing the latest and greatest and no surround sound. First one was Casino Royale and coupled with a faulty projector which caused the film to judder it made a bad bad night out. I complained and had a letter of apol and free tickets but next time just the same.
Now I go to London cinemas where the standards seem higher.

So why at the Southampton boat show did they have a bright orange superhawk they said was a special addition 007 Bond boat??? Never saw a orange boat. Also Its known in the boat trade that the driver of the vintage Sunseeker was Braithwaite the Director of Sunseeker Sales Group.

Not a "trade secret", it's written up on the Sunseeker web site under News. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I thought it was Stelios new tender /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmmm - I was wondering what the deal was with the Orange one. There is an orange superhawk in the marina where I live and the sunseeker charter people (who own it) said that they weren't supposed to say but this was the boat they used in the film. I haven't seen the film yet - I'm waiting for the DVD, but I didn't remember hearing anything about an orange speedboat in the new bond film - so it's a special edition eh?! Does look like a bond toy, but I'm really not so sure about the orange - I do like the black bits tho... :)

Did anyone else find the incredibly short scenes annoying making the film difficult to follow almost nauseating ?

In an attempt to make a car chase/boat chase exciting you saw a few seconds of film before you saw the same scene from another angle.

Bit like watching a 15 second trailer summarize a film but in this case the whole film was made of short frames.
