I received an advertisment recently relating to a thing called a "QL Fuel Decontaminator" this looks like a filter casing and is inserted in the fuel supply between the fuel tank and the pre-filters in the fuel supply pipe. It is claimed to, as it were, metagrobolize the micro-organisms causing the contamination and since excess "cleaned" fuel is returned to the tank via the injector escape the whole fuel system is kept clean. The micro-organisms are broken up so small that they pass through all filters and injectors and are burnt in the engine cylinders. The QL relies on 3 permanent magnets to do the work of breaking down the micro-organisms.

Personally I am doubtful of most of these developments which rely on magnetic fields to do wonders. Does anyone know anything about this gizmo?

Yep, know abit about them and yes they work.. Trouble is if your fuel tank is full of crap in the first instance you cant expect the unit, once installed to clean your tank.

What it will do is maintain a clean tank by the process you describe, I am guessing about your engine type/size but in a Southerly the smallest unit would be sufficient.

The unit comes complete with 5/16" hose fittings, although 3/8" hose fittings are available.

Regs, Will.

I find the separ filters, do a fine job, they are just microfine filters, with a vortex bottom half, all my fuel goes through these filters, as the system is full flow, though the ppumps and excess goes back to the tank. Once the fuel ahs all been through the filters, the filters can be changed and all done again. You will have no dirty fuel. If you treat the tanks with some S.....n or equivalent, to kill the bugs and drain some off the bottom after it has settled, this will do the job. I'm sceptical of anything like this, as I've seen these and the ones that changew petrol? so it can be used in engines designed for lead, they all seem to work with poerful magnets! I'd like to see the fuel after it's been "treated" Of course, I may be completely wrong and they do work, but there is no substitute for keeping yopur fuel clean in the first place, or filtering out the crap. Fishing boats use separ or the other make, thats good enough for me, we use them on the rig aswell. I would like to see them lloyds approved first!!
