QL Calorifier Parts

Any decent chandlery or Volvo Penta dealer should be able to source one for you. The genuine QL part is now obsolete, but low wattage elements are readily available. You may find you have to get a 1000W element, but that shouldn't be a problem. Calorifiers usually use standard 2 1/4" BSP elements.

From memory (which is far from infalible) the QL was made for VP by Quick and has 1 1/2" BSP element so one from a Quick square may be the thing.

That's my understanding too. Penguin do another Italian make that uses the same design of element and clip in stat - seems to be an Italian standard.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I've now sourced an 800W element, so my next question is, should I use PTFE tape or some kind of sealing compound when I fit it?

Doesn't the element have a fibre washer to seal it? A smear of silicone on both sides of the washer would be more than enough.
.

Yes they do, silicone grease (not sealent) will help seat it, no extra sealent is required, though possibly some anti sieze on the threads will help future owners.
