Doesnt work any more .

Got caught and probably ran too long , but i now understand why folks do , however saved situation and berthed without damage .

Although thruster now goosed , it started squeeling or sounding like rough bearings , i assumed motor overheated and bearings expanded , but , once cooled , batterys full charge , making a noise , produces no thrust and touch pad sticks on in whatever direction you press untill you hit opposite which will stop it , oil in feed .

Any had similar ? It is fitted to a impression 434 , i know ql were supplied by volvo and only a few parts available as now obsolete .

Any sagely advice from experience most gratefully received.

Cheers .

Learn to handle a 44' boat without a bow thruster, if that doesn't sound too facetious. Cheaper, more reliable and more rewarding.

It does ! , ive sailed for over 47 years and know perfectly well how to handle a boat , im trying to preserve the value of my boat for the future and in manys eyes on such a boat a thruster is an asset what ever you think !

My 2013 Beneteau has an Italian made Max Power bow thruster. It stopped working. One of the cockpit switches has a small led/lamp to show when the unit is switched on. This also flashes to depict error codes. I contacted the very helpful UK Dealer and he diagnosed a failed temperature sensor. From memory a replacement cost less than £20 and was a straightforward DIY fitment.

My pal has a Ql thruster, I think. That, too, stopped working. From memory, it has a huge solenoid located close to the unit. I used a multimeter to check that the switch was working. Then I used a pair of battery jump leads to directly power the thruster. I eventually tracked it down to a faulty connection on the solenoid.

I don't like electrics but I've managed to fix two thrusters. Maybe these examples gives you an idea?

Im thinking fault may lie here due to the weird change in control too , not very lecky myself , but will check with lumpers , cheers .

Most likely the contacts on the solenoid sticking after overheating. Probably need to change it.
