BZ AND THANK YOU TO THE YACHTING AND BOATING FRATERNITY FROM THE ROYAL NAVY

BRAVO ZULU is the Royal Navy signal for Well Done and the Royal Navy, together with the MCA RYA and MVS, pass on this message with their thanks to all those on the water in the eastern Solent before, during and after the memorable Trafalgar 200 events on 28 June 2005. With 36 nations taking part and 167 large vessels in the anchorage for the International Fleet Review, plus thousands of private craft, security and safety were a primary concern. The vast majority of skippers handled their craft in an exemplary fashion, contributing effectively to the security posture and ensuring safe navigation in congested waters. The QHM Portsmouth, Cdr Tim Gibson MBE, was very pleased and said “After the Son et Lumiere I saw streams of red and green lights exactly were they should have been, with everyone displaying commendable patience, courtesy and seamanship”. Captain Steve Bramley of Trafalgar 200, who witnessed the same sight from Southsea Common, commented “The steady mass of boats moving at the end of a spectacular day reflected very well on Britain’s past maritime glories and future horizons; I thank them all for their excellent cooperation throughout the Trafalgar 200 events.

Personally I reckon the well done really needs to be directed at them for the way the event was controlled.
