Q. To antifoul \"P\" brackets, or not ?

Having just got the boat sanded, resulting in fingers with no skin left on them, can the panel advise - some do, some don't, antifoul "P" brackets that is.

Any comments, mine have come up a treat, after lots of elbow grease etc, but looking around the yard, some are antifouled, in most are.......

What do the panel advise ?

Thanks

Adrian

Definitely anti foul them otherwise they'll get coated in barnacles and weed.

On all types of seagoing vessel antifoul all underwater surfaces (including brackets, shafts) having applied appropriate primer, sealer and/or undercoat. The exception is possible the propeller(s).
The propellers can be polished up and should then be cleaned off from time to time. Bronze props will tend to stay clean with perhaps a thin patina of fouling. Some people antifoul them, but they should be selective with primer and type of a/f used.
Anodes should contact bare clean metal with no paint to spoil electric connection.

Re: A. Yes.

Can't see any reason whatsoever to avoid antifouling P-bracket unless your a/f is not compatible.
Why would you want something that gets fouled when you can reduce/avoid it?

Antifoul them. and everything else below the waterline, apart from the echo sounder transducer, just a thin film for it.
