hello all,
reaching the point that I'm working on finishings around MiToS.
So, got to choose carpets and upholstery for the seating on salon.
Limited down to 2 options on the upholstery and another 2 on carpets.
Carpets are some natural straw matt thingies that look nice, don't feel too harsh on bare foot and sand and dirt don't show that much on them
Now, on the same sample I borrowed from the carpet shop there was a bamboo carpet thing that has approx 20mm wide by 3-4mm max slats two metres wide, stuck on some sort of synthetic (I presume) substrate that keeps it all together. Sort of rolls a bit as well.
Not interested on having this thing on the salon which is the first entry point from the aft deck (which will be covered with teak next winter) as I'm afraid it's going to be slippery and possibly dangerously slippery.
But I thought I could use it on the lower helm and galley area (they are in one line total need is under 3sq m)
Any views on that?
Anyone tried something similar?
Cost will probably be around 100euro so not exactly bank robbing scale of expense, just wondering if there is any serious argument AGAINST using such a material there that I'm missing.
Haven't got any decent pics of the bamboo but here's one of the combo materials I'm considering (plus the carmine like upholstery, but I'll update the main rebuilt thread soon)
cheers
