Brilliant.....
There's not that much space on a Hobie, but on a Moody 31 it could be mounted where the spinni pole normally goes, and with an interface to radar, it could even be used in fog against troublesome stinkpots, and not just jetski's
Good in theory, but rocket motor might be detrimental to the life of the sails. However in principle I applaud the innovation as it destroyed one PWC and one rag'n stick. Presumably to knock of a stink boater you are going to need some serious air to mud capability and the AIM-9M (L) just doesn't cut it.
Well, the jury's still out on this one, but hey: it's a precedent.

Schooner Captain Allegedly Fires at PWC
A schooner captain is suspected of firing an antique pistol to warn off a personal watercraft (PWC) operator during a recent incident in a Maine harbor.
The state marine patrol and U.S. Coast Guard have questioned Capt. Neil Parker, owner of a 60-foot commercially registered schooner in Rockland, Maine. According to a local newspaper report, the captain called the Coast Guard afterwards. He reported the PWC operator was maneuvering erratically at a high rate of speed in congested Pulpit Harbor waters.
He allegedly had fired an old pistol loaded with a blank cartridge to warn him off. The PWC driver said the handgun had been aimed directly at him.
The captain said he had a right to fire under Coast Guard navigation Rule 7: “Every vessel shall use all available means appropriate to the prevailing circumstances to determine if risk of collision exists.” The investigation is continuing.
