Returning to Christchurch from a swan round the bay, 2 jetskis come alongside.
How far is it to Christchurch, one says. Since I'm on the way there it is instantly to view on the gps. 1.87 miles I reply!
Can we get petrol there? Yes but it's a long walk from the beach. Isn't there a marina where we can refuel alongside? That would be Poole, another 10 miles or so. Where's Bournemouth, surely there's a marina there with petrol? That's just round the next Headland (I didn't want to get too technical by calling it Hengistbury Head), but I don't know of any petrol very near the beach there. Hey ho say they, and proceed inshore inside the 8 knot buoys at Chewton Bunny to run rings around the swimmers off the beach. Eventually they got tired of that and buzzed off towards Hurst against the full ebb. I wonder if they got home?
