I have had problems with the fresh water system and have re pressured the accumulator air pressure and tried to re set the pressure switches as per the manual. It has two sprung loaded nuts to adjust on and off pressure. I have managed to adjust the switch on at 1.4bar but cannot set the switch off, it over pressurises the system no matter how I adjust the pressure off adjustment. Can any one shed any light on what the problem could be? It is a Vetus type 8, 20

Switch faulty ie contacts welded closed ?

Is it actually reaching the specified cut off pressure or is the pump in need of an overhaul. (Cut off pressure should be 2.5 bar for the model 8 and 2.8bar for the model 20. )

I dont think the contacts are welded as I can force the cut off by assisting the leaver with my finger. It just seems that the screw for cut off has no effect I have adjusted it slowly from so far our the spring is loose to fully tight. It is reaching the cut off pressure it gets to nearly 4 bar. Do you know if the setting for the turn on affects the turn off?

If you have adjusted all the way to no effect .............could you have turned it the wrong way /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

You have nothing to loose by adjusting all the way the other way ?

[/ QUOTE ] No sorry I don't.
The manual says, " For efficient operation the pre-pressure of the air cushion in the
tank must be about 0.2 Bar (3 psi) less than the pump switch
pressure. Check this pressure and adjust if necessary."
Is that correct? Not that I understand exactly what it means or what effect it will have if it is wrong.

Thanks, I read that also, its not easy to get the pressures that accurate though. It seems to me that this setting up almost needs to be carried out in a controlled workshop condition as there are too many variables in a difficult working environment. (that’s boats for you)

Thanks for that, The problem is that the off switch wont cut in until nearly 4 BAR which is far to high and wont adjust at all, I have this morning spoke to the Vetus Dealer Vitesse in Fareham who suggest it must be the membrane in the pressure switch. So I will buy a new one and hope they are right!!
