Hi All
Do any of you remove the water pump impellor whilst the boat is standing idle for long periods ??? I have taken pumps apart that have stood idle and the impeller has become useless as the same 2 or 3 vanes that have pressed against the casing will not return to their original position, so therefore rendering them useless, just a thought, as i am certain that not every body changes the impeller every year . Coz they didn't use it much last year !!

Yep taken mine out already !!!!

Yes. Reomove old one on lay-up, inspect it and put it in spares box if it looks good. Don't install new impeller until re-comissioning.

Boil it in a pan of water, works for me. Same impeller for the past three seasons. Don't but the vilevo one. Its a Johnson pumps part. Half the cost. On your lump Johnson Pumps 105 I fink

Have only changed an impellor twice in 12 years, once cos it seemed the right thing to do, ols impellor still on the boat as a spare in perfect condition, the second time when the engine lost it's raw water flow and the impellor was damaged.

Not on my winter time to do list!

Have had my suzuki 5hp auxillary for around 11 years now ,same impellor never removed, still throws plenty of water out of the telltale, must give it a birthday sometime soon! I must say that Im more cautious with the main engine and change the impellor every 2 years
