I'd appreciate any of your recent experiences or recommendations for marinas on Puerto Rico and if possible in particular around San Juan or Fajardo. We are planning to leave our boat there for 6 weeks from April 2015 whilst we fly back to the UK.

Our plan is on our return to head quickly north along the eastern seaboard of the US during late May into June and Puerto Rico looks a good, attractive (and not too pricey) jumping off point - it also appears to have plenty of international flights to get us home.

I've stayed in Puerto Del Ray marina twice, leaving the boat there for a few days once, though it was six years ago. Its vast, you need a pushbike to get round, but apart from that I would have thought ideal to leave a yacht. Good services and security, though it is in the hurricane zone of course, which you'd need to keep an eye on if you are staying into June. (There were facilities for storing yachts ashore during the hurricane season). There was a regular bus service to San Juan, and I believe some sort of shuttle service direct to the international airport.

I've visited other marinas in PR, but agree this one is probably the best for your purpose.

Thank you both for your suggestion of Puerto Del Ray, I've had a look at the marina's website and gosh it is big but would serve our purpose well ......I've sent them an email.
