Anybody living local to that area can give me heads up on the above. The boat has to go there to be lifted out for some work to be done later this week and SWIMBO is elsewhere on the day. So it's that journey this week and ten days later from Gosport to Hamble tp bring boat back again.

TIA

I'll have a think about buses and get back to you. The route I know runs from the main square in Hamble to Southampton. Just need to work out how best to connect with a bus going to Gossie.

You can get the train from Hamble to Portsmouth Harbour, then take the ferry to Gosport. It is one heck of a hike from Hamble Point to the station though, with no public transport option apart from a taxi. (Perhaps a local forumite could give you a lift).

If you are going on Thursday I might be able to give you a lift from Hamble Point up to the train station. PM me if that is at all useful

Buses looks like the number 6 from Hamble Square heading back towards Southampton, but not all the way. Get off before the Itchen Bridge and change onto a number X5 going to Gossie.

Buses are run by First Group and the timetables are on their website: http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/hampshire/

Thanks, that looks doable it's only a mile or so to Hamble Square and relatively direct. I am sure the bus driver will give me the relevant info.

Alternative:
Take bicycle on board.
Cycle to Hamble Train Station
Train from Hamble to Fareham.
Cycle Fareham to Gosport.

Normally I would do that but I have not had much chance to get on the bike this year so I will take the bus and enjoy the view!

Just researched the buses for timetables and found the 26 goes all the way to Fareham and there I can get the E1 to where I am.

Thought I would post the info in case it helps anybody else going in that direction.

i will be going southampton to gosport (could easily swing into HP on way past) on Friday at approx 1700 and returning Saturday mid afternoon. If either fits a journey of yours, PM me.

Thanks for the offer Mark, but it's Thursday and I am now looking forward to the bus trip.
