You've heard of celebrity deathmatch?

Well this is the Scutbucket Deathmatch! So come on and place your bets...
Which is the baddest? Which deserves most the bile and ire we throw it's way?

Vote Now!

1) Flavour of the moment or just a bad taste? The Maggie 26!

2) Old favourite, victim of a smear campaign? Bavaria's entire range.

3) They blight your life, but impress your wife: Windfarms!

4) And of course... Anyone with a differing opinion to you, web-wonder and doyen of taste.

Now to see if I can work out how to make a poll. Hmmm.

Why don't people like Bavaria yachts? New to the forum, so I don't know. I looked over a couple last week and they seemed pretty good to me.

Was debating making open to multiple choice answers, but... This ain't tag teams, this is to the death!

Nearly went for Anchors other than your own too.
Almost added a Contessa for balance also.

The South Coast wimpy NIMBY's are winning with their fear of windmills! :D

Come round to N Wales where the tides are big & we use windmills to protect us from the storms . . .

Who needs anchors when you can Pile Moor to a couple of windmills?

Relax, it's just a general predjudice against modern boats made abroad. Beneteau-Jeneau-Bavaria get it all the time. They are mass produced, built to a price & that offends those who aspire to a craftsman build Najad, Oyster or whatever the current manufacturers in vogue are - even if they will never be able to buy one.

Owners of "classic" overweight & old-fashioned crammped accomodation designs despise their modern lines, large open cabins & light weight too.

I could never afford one so I think I am fairly non-committal on the issues.

It's more to do with the fact that the build quality and safety of the bavarias has become somewhat dubious because they've been built to a price by cutting corners and adhering to quality standards by the very narrowest of margins.

Thought I had better get my vote in too. Boo to the NIMBYs! Hehehe.

Avole, do a search for "Bavaria" and you'll see that MacGs are not alone in unpopularity.

I think there is an echo in here "Built to a price" is a familiar phrase. Perhaps I wasn't as rude in what I said, but the essence is there between the lines.

Thank you for that.

I used 'built to a price' because you had already used the phrase. I read your post as implying that bavarias were unpopular simply because they were cheap. I was pointing out that it's the resulting issues with safety and quality that causes people to see them with distain.

Not really the point though.

Avole, see what I mean? Seems the MacGies are enjoying a modicom of, dare I say, popularity. Or is that reduced unpopularity? Or best of a bad bunch?

And Searush, apologies if my posts seem to echo also- I'm getting distracted while writing, and connection's poor, so by the time they're in, they're obsolete... Oooh, I heard that about Wind Energy thingies the other day. Synchronicity!

What issues with safety? And if you trot out that old myth about the keels falling off I will be most displeased.

Only my personal opinions of course, but

A, Unfair to Bavaria's,

B, The Macgregor is extremely lucky to have such a fiasco as windfarms which are an active problem to the rest of us, to detract from what would be a landslide !

Searush, the problem with the proposed wind farm off Poole Bay is not that it's on the South Coast ( where all the best people sail, don't you know :) ) it's the snag that this one goes straight across several crucial routes, and going straight through does not seem to be allowed; even if it is, in the slightest suggestion of bad vis it would require a massive detour with strong cross tides, would be a serious problem especially for small crews.

Strange how the voting doesn't match the discussion... Or is just more socially acceptable to talk about Baffs than the other candidates?
