Do a "dry lubricant" aerosol which is PTFE carried in a very light oil which flashes off leaving a white PTFE film. There are quite a few penetrating oils around which boast that they "contain PTFE" but they're just as messy as WD40.
Somewhere in my mind i seem to have this (maybe incorrect) idea that PFTE spray is the same as teflon spray. Thats obtainable everywhere is it not?
Happy sailings
Rabbie,
There's your answer; PFTE spray is widely available in DIY shops as Teflon spray for general lubrication.
I use the stuff for all sorts of lub jobs including hoisting a rag soaked with the spray through the sail groove in the mast to keep the runners running.
