Would anyone please have an idea where PSS maintainence kits can be obtained in UK other than ASAP who are currently advising four week lead time for our shaft size. The shaft had to be slid back and therefore the carbon rotor eased. They say you shouldn't re-use the grub screws a second time but would it be acceptable to use alternative grub screws? Many thanks.

You are likely to find your answer in 'Aquafax' and/or 'T. Norris'..

FWIW, there is a draft article on some of the many problems - and solutions - caused by the US-Imperial PSS grub screws unwinding, and the stators they secure sliding out of place, sitting on PBO Editor David Pugh's desk this past 3 months.

I have always re-used mine and never had a problem so I await the article with interest.

From new I fitted two Jubilee clips behind the rotor, leaving a 1/8'' gap, simply to monitor any movement along the shaft. There has never been any.

Thanks to you both, I 'll also await the PBO article with a great interest but in the meantime I'll do what D oug does, we've got to get launched.

Aquafax supplied mine within 24 hours (1 3/4 shaft x 2 3/4 housing) via local chandlers. The grub screws now come with a semi hard coating of loctite or similar, making the already difficult task of doing up the grub screws about twice as long.

Important also to know that there are two in each hole.

I got mine from Silette
