I bought a stack of these from TESCOs on special at 99p for my last trip. Still have most of them as not really a substantial meal. I found they were more of a light snack or lunchtime thing. I noticed the instructions seem to favour microwaving rather than heating in a pan and I don't have a microwave.

Agreed, quantity is their drawback, especially for the hungry sailor.

I'd be tempted to pad them out with rice or pasta.

They also recommend simmering in the bag for 5-10 minutes, or quicker if you use a pressure cooker.

I bought one as a taster (ordered online). Tiny portion to say the least., Would need at least four packets to fill the bowl in the hands on the front. Wont be buying again unless they increase the quantity substantially.

I'll have a few of these on board but 'beefed' up so to speak with 5 spoonfuls of SMASH potatoe with some olive oil added. When I tried this at home it seemed sufficient (for me anyway)

But better value by far are the military ration packs from Tonbridge market. Curry, stew etc; MOD in origin or what looks like Denmark. Two for a quid.

For the larger frame add noodles plus a small tin of beans (green).Never had a problem with heating in one saucepan.
