Prout Snowgoose 37

Considering purchasing a Prout Snowgoose 37 for French canals and med, but read stories about them being very susceptible to overloading. Surely if they've regularly crossed the Atlantic with presumably minimum 6 weeks worth of water, food, fuel and stores they can't be that bad, or is there a better catamaran of similar size. Anyone got any experience?

Hi Paul,
I suggest that the Motor Boat forum is not the best place to get replies.
There are a few different versions of the Snowgoose, the later elites carry load better, having wider hulls, but the downside is they are slower. How many of you will be cruising? If its just two I wouldn't worry to much about the load capacity specially in the French canals and Med as you will never be to far form water, fuel and supplies. keep them relatively light (the central nacelle just touching the water) and you will enjoy the sailing performance. Do you need to fill both water tanks full of water, fuel tank full of fuel? Bang for your buck the Prout Snowgoose is good value, plenty of room, sail well and will look after you if the going gets rough.
