Having taken the trouble to remove the gearbox output drive flange - to replace a weepy seal, I decided to check the alignment as well. I found it difficult to judge the small clearances at the four points on the coupling, using a feeler gauge. It was clearly not quite at the right angle, so I nipped a 25 thou feeler at the "tight" point, then used a further feeler gauge to measure a now measurable amount round the clock so to speak. I then gently adjusted the engine mounts to bring all the 4 points to the SAME value as the trapped feeler. I haven't tried running the engine yet, but it was a heck of a lot simpler to measure than trying to slide in sub 5 thou feelers on the drive flanges!
Anybody else done it that way?

I made up the rest of the coupling once the reading was the same at all 4 drive bolts- all the way round.

R & D recomend using one point & turn it 90 deg a time to check the clearance
