OK, chaps and chapesses!
Need some info! I have a zodiac, yachtline deluxe, with a 30hp yamahahahaha engine (maximum allowed). The top speed is OK, but the "pick up" is not what it should be, Belinda has to go right up forward to get it on the plane.
OK ok I hear it, yes I am a tad portly and anybody who knows these boats, the seating is aftish!
It has power tilt and all those bells and whistles, so I guess trim up to get on the plane, and then trim down for zooming?? I dont know, youse lot are the power thingy types!

Question is, do they make different props for the 30hp yam?
Which one, if they do, would I need.
Dont ask me which prop is on it, I guess the standard one!

The Prop size is stamped on the prop itself, speak with Steel developments of Merton SW London, they will be able to advise if correct size and pitch.
Are the tubes and keel fully inflated, and it has a clean bottom

I'm assuming a yachtline deluxe is a dinghy...if so a 30 hp should get it straight on the plane however your trimming might be the problem...trim should be as far down as possible to keep the nose down to get on the plane and then the nose can be lifted a bit for optimum cruising or as you put it zooming!! Other considerations are to make sure the boat is pumped up nice and hard and if it has a keel tube that that is pumped nice and hard as well. If you are still struggling it could be the prop or an engine fault at low revs... Iain

did it *used* to be ok and now not so ok? Or has it always been a bit cack two-up?

Anyway no harm getting a spare prop anyway, go to the prop shop and tellem it's cack, and what do they think, try new prop on sale orreturn, that's cack, back to shop, usual thing, different prop etc etc and soon enuf all fine?

The tubes should be pumped up so hard that you can't gt any more air innem witha foot pump, or if inflating another way then they should be hard so you can just not make indentation innem. Also sling the fuel box further forward. Also clean the bum perhaps with some viakal to get rid of tiny greeby things. Also go on a diet, but i'm being ridiculous now.

Otherwise chuck the boat and get a Caribe rib which are miles better than poxy zodiac or avon as caribes have lovely deep sponsons and hence no wet bum ever.

This is a RIB, so no keel to pump up.
TCM, Tubes are very hard, fuel tank is built in midships, was always cack, no prop shop around me, to get one, have to order or get one for them steel developements peeps. The sponsons are very deep on these boats, no wet bum. Bum spotless!

I'll have a chat with steel de....peeps!

That is the wrong way round.

Trim in (bow down) until you are on the plane.

At full throttle the bow will cut well through the water and in chop will stuff, so at full throttle start to trim out and bow will raise but there is no rush to do that and you may prefer to cruise trimmed in all the time.

I have a similar setup and have found the same problem.
Check there is no water laying in the void between the hull and the deck, there should be a seperate bung for that.
Another option is to fit a "hydrofoil" onto your outboard.
Cheers.

Are the hydrofoils any good? Do they work? I've got a 3.2m Honda airfloor with an 8hp outboard and I've been reading the bumph on the hydrofoil packaging and it sounds too good to be true.

In most boats they are great to help you get on the plane, but the down side is the increased drag. Your boat already has inflatable 'trim tabs' so i'm not sure it would be a massive help.

With you set up I think you will also lose at least a couple of knots off your top speed.
