Can I have a quick update on the latest lore on props and fouling? Is it still an arcane art, with mixtures of poo and lanolin, or has YM published a review which pins down the best technique? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW, this is a serious question.

My boat spends all year in water. Is lifted just of one weekend to anti-foul. Usually just scape critters off prop and polish. Last year I anti-fouled it to see what happened. When lifted a few weeks back it was MUCH fouler than usual. Almost like anti-foul (which as still present under the clag) provided something for critters to key on to. Will not anti-foul prop again.

Beware this is a sample of one and highly non-scientific

Thanx for that shmoo. My question went down like a lead balloon, praps nobody has a real answer. I used some black stuff from Blakes, which was prop antifouling. For reasons to do with the health of the engine, or lack of, I had to haul out some few hours later, and found that it had vanished from the last inch or so of the tip of the prop. When she came out the other day, she was as barnacled as ever. So your experience seems the same as mine. Oh for a magic potion!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
