I would love to know whether the props that are fitted to my boat (46' TSMY) are....'right'.

This isn't because I think they're 'wrong' but she's 12 years old and I am sure that computer models and stuff have come leaps and bounds since she was designed and built and would like to be sure that my props are as efficient as possible.

I am sure that pitch, diameter and all those good things are important...but all the possible scenarios may not have been reviewed all those years ago by my Italian makers (Mochi - now owned by Ferretti, no product support given).

Is there a way to 'reverse engineer' propulsion to understand if what you've got is 'good' by today's standard.

Cheers
Stefan

I had tje same thoughts a few months ago. Plus I was told that my props were all pitted amd would fall to bits eventualy anyway. Also four blade props are now all the rage.. Os put new omes on. Well there better, I think, But being as the bottom was cleaned about the same time and the magic soltron was also installed. It's hard to tell. The whole lot might have added two knots. Is it worth it????

Re: Little new

I really don't think prop technology has changed much in the last X years (excluding surface drives etc).

Essentially, do your engines pull max pwer revs (or just over when clean and light)? because if so they are right and you ani't going to get any more by changing size, pitch or blade number. If your props are in poor condition, recondition anyway otherwise best left alone IMHO
