After an encounter with a heavy bit of flotsam near the Dockyard am in the market for new or re-shaped prop and new shaft. Hamble Props are too busy to visit - I'd like to discuss changing pitch as well - and it's hardly the sort of thing to post around the country!

Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

Nearer to you, try CJR Propulsion at Bitterne. I have had several jobs done by them over the years, always to my complete satisfaction. And they were brilliant in coming up with the design for new props when I re-engined a previous boat. Usual disclaimers.

Thanks very much for those suggestions; Clements are already in the frame, will try local firms now, Bitterne & Shamrock Quay aren't far away but will they travel?

My quandry is that a new prop may not be necessary and some clever bashing will suffice, in which case I'd hope to tweak the pitch - technical stuff which needs on-site assessment.

Thanks again.

(Do I detect a Raggy trying to put an oar in? Or just another Forum Freak?)

Had a new shaft made up by Lancing Marine a couple of years back, at a highly competitive price. Well below what anyone else was quoting!

As to props, is it anything special? If not, a visit to Foulkes Chandlery barge on the Hamble may prove fruitful - they have a whole container full of props of all sizes - curious they had everything but the one I wanted!
