I have been looking for a 18dia x 10p spare prop for a 1" shaft. An 18x11 has popped up on eBay but it is for a 1 1/8" shaft
On the basis that I know nothing about propellors can anyone advise?
Is there a credible/professional/sensible way this item would serve my purpose or is it a complete no-no?
Cheers

And to further complicate matters you have metric taper(metric shaft should be) vs imperial taper(imperial shaft should be)

In my workshop I have an 18 x 15 2 bladed prop that has a standard taper for a 25mm shaft. Think it may be a bit to steep a pitch for you but maybe worth checking it out.
It is left handed.

Great offer Krew2 - I am after a left hand but 3blade to be identical to the current fit.
Thanks

Thanks vic008 and MR. I don't have any info on the taper - I'll investigate.

Without seeing the parts involved, removing some of the back of the prop hub would let it slide up the taper until snug? Are they the same taper? Would the keyway still engage? How would you get the nut to bear on the end of the prop which has now moved up the spline?

Its on the reading list for this evening after I have been signed off from Gardening duties

Should be no problem with a tapered sleeve,it will be thin so needs a good machinist , preferably one used to props & shafts ,it is split around the key,get an estimate !.That is a large prop for a 1" shaft.

Jim, that all sounds a bit too difficult for someone as little knowledge as myself. I'll drop the idea and look for a better fit.

You could well be right. Just a bit later the builder swapped to fitting 17x12x2.
