"YANMAR 2GM20F Specification: Direction of rotation: Propellor shaft (Ahead):Clockwise viewed from stern." from the Operation manual.

That is what I believe would be called a right-hand prop.
 
Thanks for the info, it would explain why I have been dissapointed with the performance of my new engine. It has a lefthand prop fitted!
 
If wrong handed the boat would go astern when fwd gear is engaged,is that whats happening? If its just a performance issue it will be incorrect propellor size or pitch.
 
Maybe it's the wrong prop and the remote has been connected so that moving it to the 'fwd' position actually puts the gearbox in reverse. The ratios for fwd and reverse are different so you wouldn't get full speed in what is effectively reverse. I think there is a sticky label on the gearbox next to the selection lever to say which is fwd and reverse.
