Does any body know where i can get these from. i have a chance of getting new props but they are for 1.5" shafts. mine are 1.25. many thanks in advance. have been on google but all the supplyers seem to be american.

Did Norris indicate whether using such a bush was a wise move? I've used them in the past and been impressed by their knowledge (and prices).

I'd have thought anyone competent with a lathe could easily knock up a suitable bush. Assuming your shaft is stainless, you'd have a choice of that or whatever the prop is made from.

The main problem I'd envisage is that two keyways would need to be cut into the bush: one to key to the shaft, the other to the prop. Or, since it's a mere 1/8" thick, a slot allowing you to utilise a larger Woodruff key through all three components.

I've not fitted boat props which do not have keys to locate them on tapered shafts. (ships is different as we all no, chiz) I suppose you might have new 1.5" shafts turned down to fit your existing hull fittings but I wouldn't reccommend that. If you're going to replace the props anyway, get ones for the correct shaft diameter. Props for a 32mm shaft might fit onto the existing tapers, if it's the imperial size that giving you problems.

if you look on the american sites, they sell them with bigger keys to lock all three together.

They usually include a stepped key. The US sites offer also nylon prop reducers which are OK for smaller hp engines. You have 4.107s, I think, and they should be OK with nylon bushings. They're only about $25 each, so would be worth a try.

trouble wiyh nylon is the bonding of prop to shaft. yes you are correct with the 1407s. about 40hp each im told.
