Hi Guys, I'm after some advice on props:

I've got a pair of bronze props that were for an Aquastar with Volvo TAMD60's (I think), the owner has asked me to try and sell them for him.

I know they're 20x23" did/pitch but I've been told there's a lot more to it re fitment. Different shaft diameters, imperial & metric and also different tapers.

Can anyone tell me how to measure or otherwise identify them accurately in order for me to advertise them properly? (shaft drive if you haven't already guessed)

Many thanks

They will be almost certainly imperial diameter, probably around 1 3/4" - just check by measuring the ID at the forward end. The taper should be standard, but again you can check by measuring the id at the outer end and then the length of the taper to give you the rayio.

As a price guide have a look on ebay under bronze propellers or on the Coastal Rides website which has a large selection of similar sized props for sale. Also look on BoatsandOutboards, normall a good selection on there.
There are a couple of companies online which supply new props and reconditioned worth checking .
You will probably need to know if they are right, left handed or both !

To attracted interest any buyer will want to know exactly what you have.

For instance I am searching for a 4 blade prop 22" x 17 Right hand on a 40mm shaft with a taper of 12.

Thanks, I've been told they're probably a 1 in 16 taper, apparently there's 3 tapers in common use. Nothing's ever simple is it!

Just out of interest they're a counter rotating pair and they're 3 blade.

Looks like I'll have to get my Zeus reference book out and the calipers
