I am involved with a friends boat,helping get her ready for the summer.The problem we have is with the prop shafts,they nead replacing .They are 75mm dia buy 3.5m and made out of steel [not stainless].As the boat is already in Belgium and will stay there for the next few years,should we upgrade to stainless?or stick with what was she origionly equided with? there is a big price diferential,£2000.00 more for staineless
Like to hear your views {by the way the present shafts lasted 25 years}

25 years on standard steel shafts eh?

I think that answers your question quite adequately don't you? /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Sounds like a much bigger boat than we usually chat about round here!

Also, you dont say what the price difference is relative to either cost - £2k against £4k is a lot different to £22K against £24K.

Dont feel qualified to comment, sorry.

thanks jcmmarine
nice idea but the shafts are only tapered one end,think we go with steel they lasted well before and the boat will only be in fresh water
