A friend recently made an excellent job of polishing my prop. Unfortunately he lost the locking shim/ insert whasname. Do members of the panel have any ideas for getting a replacement in the Plymouth area? Many thanks.
Its called a 'key', and any competent engineer should be able to make one up for you. You need to know the precise depth of the keyway in the prop shaft to within .001 mm, and give the prop to the engineer so he can work out the exact size of key needed. They are usually fairly standard, but do not assume that. They MUST be a good tight fit, or they can shear or distort, which would be a shaft out job removing the remains and checking for damage!
